Eindhoven, 20 October 2026 – Sky Medical Center is taking over the medical examination activities of Aviation Medical Center. From 1 November, all aeromedical examinations of both organisations will be carried out by Sky Medical Center. With this acquisition, Sky Medical Center grows to four locations in the Netherlands and further expands its services.
Joining forces creates more capacity for aeromedical examinations in the Netherlands. For pilots, cabin crew and air traffic controllers, this means shorter waiting times and better accessibility across the country. The services of Aviation Medical Center will continue within Sky Medical Center.
Experience and expertise combined
Rachel van Neer, Head of AeMC at Sky Medical Center, previously worked as a general practitioner and has been active in aviation medicine since 2020.
“For me, this step is a logical next phase. By combining our expertise, we can serve pilots, air traffic controllers and cabin crew even better. As a GP, I learned how important it is not only to examine someone medically, but also to guide them well. As an AME, I see it as my challenge to look for ways of issuing a medical certificate even in more complex medical situations, so that someone can keep flying or continue their work. That remains at the heart of how we work. I am therefore very pleased that Hans, with all his experience, is joining us as Deputy Head of Medical Affairs.”
Hans Leeman will remain with Sky Medical Center after the acquisition and becomes Deputy Head of Medical Affairs. His existing clients can continue to see him.
“I am looking forward to this new phase. My regular clients can continue to see me, and the continuity of their medical examinations is assured. At the same time, this step gives Aviation Medical Center the room to focus entirely on psychological assessments. For me personally, it also creates a little more room for my private life and my great passion: gliding.”
More capacity and renewed services
Louise Buijs-Peters, Managing Director of Sky Medical Center, is overseeing the merger.
“A merger like this calls for care, clear communication and attention to the people who work with it every day. My role is to guide that process well, so that clients, staff and both organisations can trust from day one that the services simply carry on. At the same time, we are using this moment to renew our processes. Clients will soon be able to book an appointment more easily and prepare better for their examination, and our people will have more time for genuine personal attention.”
Sky Medical Center also wants to further increase its number of aeromedical examiners. “We are always interested in experienced AMEs and in doctors who are considering becoming an AME. We are happy to introduce them to our profession and our team,” says Buijs-Peters.
